Boaters’ Choice Award marinas were chosen based on their number of reviews and average star-rating on Marinas.com. By relying on reviews submitted throughout a marina's season, all boaters had an equal voice in determining the outcome of the Boaters’ Choice Awards and all marinas an unbiased assessment of their standing in the boating community.
Marinas with at least five reviews in 2019 and an average rating of at least four stars received the accolade of being a 2019 Boaters' Choice marina. This year, 249 businesses received this award, up 5% from 2018.
Last year, Marinas.com added the Elite Fleet tier to the Boaters' Choice Awards, to recognize marinas that went above and beyond to provide excellent experiences to their boaters. Any marina with at least ten reviews in 2019 and an average rating of at least 4.8-stars received Elite Fleet status. This year, 54 businesses received the Elite Fleet status, up 157% from 2018.
The growth of marinas qualifying for Elite Fleet status represents a positive trend in the marina industry, as more marinas recognize the power of customer reviews to attract new boaters and to motivate staff to provide the best possible customer service.
The 2019 recipients include a diverse range of marina businesses, from private yacht clubs to public service yards, and locations from the west coast to Marinas.com's hometown of Newport, Rhode Island. Marinas.com includes profiles for more than 8,500 U.S. and Bahamian marinas, which places the 2019 Boaters' Choice winners in the top 3% highest-rated marinas in the US & Caribbean.
