Inaugural “Dockwa Day” on June 24 to Boost 2020 Slip and Mooring Reservation Requests

CAMBRIDGE, MA – June 16, 2020 – Similar to Amazon.com’s “Prime Day,” boaters from across the U.S. will visit the Dockwa Deals webpage to secure limited, high-value discounts on slips, moorings, storage, and more. 

 

Dockwa, the makers of the boating industry's first marketplace-enabled marina management software, will host a one-day online event to encourage partner businesses to offer discounted dockage and create a mid-summer spike of boater booking activity. This occasion marks the first annual “Dockwa Day,” created by the Newport-based team with the goal of encouraging more boating activity in the wake of Covid-19’s initial outbreak. 

 

“With an unexpectedly shortened season, we wanted to find a way to help marinas that may have seen a lower turnout this year, while also encouraging boaters to get out on the water more,” shared Dockwa CEO, Mike Melillo, who likened Dockwa Day to Amazon’s Prime Day.

 

Boaters can expect access to dozens of exclusive discounts of up to 50% savings on both transient and annual dockage. As a byproduct of this event, Melillo and his team hope to draw attention to the ease with which Dockwa partner marinas can run a Dockwa Deal, making it a simple, effective, low-risk way to attract new customers any time of year.

 

Running a Dockwa Deal is a feature available at no extra cost to Dockwa partner marinas, and gives each marina a boost in exposure via Dockwa’s “Deal Digests” weekly emails and social media accounts, and will soon have prioritized placement and branding in the Dockwa app. “Any time a discount is redeemed, you have another slip filled, cash on hand, and a new opportunity to create a lifelong customer – for $0 and at no risk to your marketing budget,” Melillo added.
