Joint Technology Integration Makes It Easy to Choose and Book Marinas Online or via Mobile App
NEWPORT, RI and CASTINE, ME – July 27, 2016 – Dockwa, Inc., the marina reservation platform which connects boaters to marinas online and by app, and ActiveCaptain, the popular online interactive cruising guidebook for boaters, are joining forces to develop a single online ecosystem for marina reviews. This partnership and product integration allows boaters to review marinas after a marina reservation is booked through the Dockwa platform.
“As the leading online forum to allow for instant, crowd-sourced boater updates and reviews, ActiveCaptain has been a technology leader in the boating industry for nearly a decade,” said Mike Melillo, CEO at Dockwa. “We're excited to have engineered a system to bring boaters and marinas an enhanced ability to submit reviews, as well as provide broader visibility into a marina's quality of service.”
Boaters can now contribute reviews of their marina experience on Dockwa, which will be automatically shared on the ActiveCaptain website. The integration also allows them to use a mobile app to share reviews on the ActiveCaptain website.
The integrated online reviews inform boaters when they are making a decision on which marinas to book, while providing marinas valuable feedback in order to improve the boater experience and ultimately increase revenue.
"Dockwa is the only company that gets the boating reservation model right for both marinas and boaters. No one else comes close,” said Jeffrey Siegel, Co-Founder of ActiveCaptain.
Dockwa recently announced a $2 million round of seed funding, sourced through 70 percent of its pre-existing investors.
Founded in 2006 by Jeff and Karen Siegel, the ActiveCaptain community now has more than 250,000 users who freely share information. For more information, visit: https://activecaptain.com and follow on LinkedIn.
Founded in May 2015, Dockwa is an award-winning, unified marina operations platform which connects boaters to marinas in real time, online and by app. Boaters download the free iOS or Android app or log in online and then search, explore, reserve and pay for their reservations in a matter of minutes. Marinas then use the Dockwa platform to confirm the reservation, collect payment and deposit the customers' information into their intelligent database with a single click. Headquartered in Newport, RI, Dockwa rapidly expanded along the eastern seaboard in its first year to a growing marina network of more than 400 marinas and tens of thousands of boaters. Dockwa is now expanding into the Great Lakes region, the West Coast and beyond. For more information, visit: https://dockwa.com and follow on Facebook, LinkedIn, and @getdockwa on Twitter.
